Diary for day 20

We got up at 6am to have our last buffet breakfast at the royal paradise hotel. We got on the mini bus to take us to our boat. Our boat was the third boat along the pier which meant we had to carry all three suitcases across. Luckily some Thai workers helped. The boat took about 90 minutes to get the Phi Phi Island. Mannan fell asleep during the boat ride while Eriko watched a documentary and other passengers throw up.

When we arrived at Phi Phi, we were bombarded by people offering not tuk-tuks, but long tail boats to get to the various parts of the Island. Long tail boats are wooden boats with a propeller stuck to the end of a stick.

We got one to take us to our resort, which was on the other end of the island for 800 baht, which we knew was dear but it was a big hassle trying to get a cheaper price with our bags with us.

We got to Phi Phi Natural Resort to find a very peaceful and quiet retreat from technology and society. We went swimming in the beach infront of our hotel after settling into our room. After a swim we lay on free bean bags under palm trees. Once again, Mannan fell asleep and Eriko took pictures of him sleeping. We were going to have lunch at the beach front restaurant, but the prices were $12 for a plate! Therefore, we went to our poolside restaurant in our resort where Mannan ordered shrimp pad thai (and gave the shripms to Eriko) and Eriko ordered noodle soup with beef (and gave the beef to Mannan).

After lunch we went swimming in the resort pool, which was much colder than the sea. For dinner, we went to the same restaurant and had a candle lit meal overlooking the sea under a beautiful starry night. Mannan had nazi goreng and Eriko had Sweet and Sour Pork (Jealous much RIKI!). We had coconut ice cream and fresh fruit for dessert.

We saw a stray cat that night (the only stray animal we saw on Phi Phi Island, which was a nice change from the rest of Thailand).
